Making Any Food Plans For Weight Loss? Think About This!

January 27, 2011

Have you heard that you need to eat fat as part of any food plans for weight loss? The truth is, fat is not your foe! To some, that fact may be revolutionary and may take some getting used to. To others, it may be a relief. But not all fats are created equally. There are some fats you should consume and others you should stay away from.
Use Olive Oil and Coconut Oil for Cooking

Many people know that organic olive oil is good for heart health, but did you know that coconut oil is good for you too? Coconut oil contains a substance that is antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal. Coconut oil can also help your body burn fat. So use extra virgin olive oil for when you need oil for low heat methods, for salad dressings, and for other raw applications. Raw, organic coconut oil can be used for those recipes that require high heat, such as sauteing.

How Omega 3 Fats Help Food Plans For Weight Loss

Another fat you need to have in your dieting plans is the Omega 3 fats. These fats can help your heart and brain to function. They also help your body to burn fat and can help reduce inflammation and pain. Where do you find these fats? Salmon, sardines, anchovies . . . actually, many oily fishes are filled with Omega 3s. Aim for wild fish, not farmed, as these are much higher in the beneficial Omega 3s and aren’t filled with Omega 6s! In addition, many nuts, such as hazelnuts and pecans also contain these important fats.

Don’t Forget the Butter!

No, butter is not your enemy. When done right, it can make up part of your healthy eating plan. Saturated fats are not the culprit behind many of the diseases doctors have blamed them for. Sugar and processed oils are the real culprits. Hydrogenated fats and trans fats are the fats you should stay away from. This is one reason we recommend organic butter instead of the kind most commonly bought in stores. At all costs avoid margarine and fake butters. You’re far better off with the real deal.

You can–and should–eat the right fats as part of your food plans for weight loss. Not only can it help your body function better, it can also help you shed those extra pounds.
